Like so many things in life, I didn’t go looking for a career in acupuncture – it found me.

I grew up in the beautiful Basque Country, northern Spain, where sport was a huge part of my life. As a child and teenager, I was always active. I played football, competed in athletics, spent countless hours hiking in the mountains, cycling, running – if it involved movement, I loved it.

Despite my passion for sport, I initially chose a different path and studied Public Relations. However, after several knee operations and moving to Ireland in 2001, I found myself drawn back towards health and wellbeing. This led me to retrain in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation (Honours Degree).

Around that time, something I hadn’t experienced for years returned – severe migraines. As a child, I had suffered terribly with them and found relief through acupuncture when little else had helped. Experiencing the benefits of acupuncture again as an adult reminded me how grateful I was to the practitioner who helped me when I was just ten years old, after being told I would simply have to learn to live with pain.

That experience changed the course of my life. Inspired by the difference acupuncture had made for me, I began researching it in depth and eventually decided to study Medical Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shannon, graduating with Distinction.

Today, I feel incredibly fortunate to have found a profession that I genuinely love. While I have a particular interest in helping people with pain management and musculoskeletal conditions, I also work with a wide range of health concerns, including digestive disorders, respiratory conditions, women’s health issues, stress, anxiety, and general wellbeing. Depending on each person's needs, I may incorporate therapies such as cupping or moxibustion alongside acupuncture treatments.

As an ACI member, my treatments are recognised by VHI, Laya Healthcare, Aviva, Irish Life, and several other health insurance providers (please check with your provider for specific cover).

Alongside acupuncture, I hold an ITEC-accredited Diploma in Diet and Nutrition for Complementary Therapists and can provide nutritional guidance when appropriate.
