Functional Nutrition & Slow Living for Mental Wellbeing in Cork and Online
Do you feel out of balance — stressed, overwhelmed, or unsure how to support your health naturally?
I work with adults and families through life’s changing seasons — from stress and burnout to low immunity, digestive issues, and family nutrition — helping you reconnect with your body and restore balance through food, lifestyle, and awareness.
My name is Daniela and I’m a CNM-qualified Nutritional Therapist and founder of Nutrifika, a practice inspired by the Scandinavian concept of fika — taking time to pause, connect, and recharge. After over a decade in the corporate world, I realised that slowing down and listening to the body was the key to lasting wellbeing. That experience shaped my belief that the body already holds what it needs to heal — we just need to create the right conditions for it.
My approach combines naturopathic and functional nutrition with a slower, more mindful rhythm — integrating food energetics, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and seasonal awareness to create deeply personalised and realistic plans. Every consultation is a space to slow down, be heard, and work together toward balance.

About me
I’m Daniela Alves, a qualified Nutritional Therapist and founder of Nutrifika. I specialise in supporting mental wellbeing, stress, digestion, and immunity, as well as family nutrition — guiding clients back to balance when life feels out of sync. I was drawn to nutritional therapy through a deep curiosity about the connection between food, wellbeing, and the pace of modern life.
Qualifications and Professional Associations
I hold a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM), known for its high academic and clinical standards. I’m a professional member of the ANP and NTOI, and registered with the General Naturopathic Council (GNC) as a qualified Naturopath — ensuring my work meets recognised professional and ethical standards.

My journey into Nutritional therapy
Former Corporate Communications and Project Manager, I have decided to completely change my career and look for a different rhythm to my life; turn to a space that felt more aligned to me as a person and that would feed my soul with excitement and purpose.
Nutrition and holistic wellbeing was definitely the port of call in that exploration. I am a self-proclaimed home chef and food was always my love language and a big part of my culture growing up. Besides that, being a mother to young children really poked my curiosity in relation to the science of nutrition and how could I better my kids health using food.
After being in the rat race for so long and seeing how that disconnected me from myself, I was instinctively called by a slower way of living, one that respects and aligns with the pace of nature and that invites you to go within for wisdom. That realisation and practice changed everything for me, my health, my sense of self and the way I see the world. Taking the time to truly listen to my body and connect more deeply to myself and others has been profoundly healing. I knew then I wanted that inspiration to be heart of my practice: a belief that our bodies already hold everything they need for balance – we just need to pause, listen and support them in the right way so they can do what they’re designed to do – heal.
That’s where Nutrifika was born – grounded on the Swedish philosophy of Fika that is most general terms means taking a break from the busy day and having a treat with friends – but truly means much more than that – Fika is about slowing down, connection, getting in touch with your senses, with your body and recharging. And I honestly believe there is so much “fika” in Naturopathic Nutrition.
My Approach – How I work
My approach is guided by naturopathic and functional nutrition principles, integrating science, nature, and a deep understanding of the whole person. Naturopathic and functional nutrition focus on understanding how the body’s systems are connected and what might be driving imbalance. The aim is to support the body’s natural ability to heal through personalised nutrition and lifestyle changes.
I also integrate Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), food energetics, a seasonal approach, and elements of Ayurveda to enrich assessment and create deeply personalised nutrition and lifestyle protocols.
I also believe there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to nutrition and health. In my practice, every consultation and every protocol respects the individuality of each client — staying curious and attentive to their unique story in order to define a targeted plan that truly fits them.
And last but never the least, the slow-living approach to life is at the heart of my practice. Taking the time to listen to every unique story and to truly trust the body — with time and care — is what Nutrifika is all about. I bring these principles into the consultation room, connecting deeply with each story, and in doing so, I hope to encourage my clients to slow down, prioritise self-care, and work together in learning what needs to happen so they can trust their bodies to do the healing.
My consultations offer a space to slow down — to be listened to, understood, and supported. I take time to explore each client’s story with curiosity and care, combining scientific insight from functional and naturopathic nutrition with a gentle, step-by-step approach. The goal is to help each person reconnect with their body and feel like themselves again.
