Adolescence and young adults counselling and psychotherapy

I specialize in working with adolescence and young adults, whether you are looking for some guidance to understanding your emotions better as a teenager or you have gotten into your 20’s and you’re feeling a bit lost, I offer a safe, compassionate and empathic space and I am here to listen to you no matter how big or small you feel your difficulties are.

I work with individuals presenting with anxiety, depression, stress, worry, low self-esteem, people who have gone through traumatic experiences and individuals who just genuinely feel lost at the moment.

For adolescence, this is a safe space to get a better understanding about your emotions, your thoughts, your feelings. Whether it is low self-esteem or you’re just feeling low and you don’t understand why, we can work together to help you get a better understanding of your emotions and to learn new healthy coping strategies.

For young adults, I understand how difficult it can be once you leave school and you’re out working or off to college, or you’re in your mid to late 20’s and there is still so much to learn about yourself. It is easy to get caught up in figuring out what you want to do, but it is important not to lose yourself in the process. I am here to listen to you and help you learn more about your stresses and difficulties, to get a better understanding of yourself.

About myself

Myself/My practice/Approach

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, after completing a level 8 in counselling and psychotherapy at the Irish College of Applied sciences (ICHAS). I am an integrative therapist, meeting the clients where they are at and assessing to see which approach is most suitable.

I believe the most important aspect of counselling, is the relationship between the counsellor and client. Following the ethical framework, I believe a strong professional relationship between counsellor and client will create a much more comfortable space to discuss sensitive topics.

For our first session, I will take a person-cantered approach, this way it is a chance for me to get to know you better and get a better understanding of where you are at,

building the report. I use evidence based approaches such as person cantered, CBT, humanistic approach and trauma informed care.

I have experience working with both adolescence and adults via in person and online counselling.

Why I work with young adults and adolescents.

I have decided to work with adolescence and young adults as I believe it is such a fragile time of life, for many different reasons. I believe it is important to learn about yourself, your emotions and your mental health as a whole at a young age as it gives you the tools and strategies to deal with future difficulties in a healthy manner.

The way I see It is, if you hurt your leg or damage a muscle, you would go see your doctor to see what the issue is and fix it. So, if you’re struggling with your mental health, would talking to a trained counsellor be a good idea?

I understand first-hand how difficult it is to take that first step forward and talking to a counsellor, so you should be proud of yourself for coming this far
