Based in The Natural Clinic on Sullivans Quay, nutritional therapist Claire O’Brien and acupuncturist Joao Rosa have teamed up to create a unique gut mind health clinic combining nutrition and acupuncture therapy for those struggling with digestive health and related conditions.

The gut is the most fundamental wellbeing organ of the entire body, and the health and wellbeing benefits of looking after our digestive system cannot be  underestimated, according to nutritional therapist, Claire O’Brien.

”Digestive problems like constipation or diarrhoea, food allergies, skin conditions, hormonal imbalances, UTIs, thrush and weight issues can all be traced to diet and food issues, as well as autoimmune conditions like fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue”.

”I’ve seen a huge rise in gut related issues in the last 2 years. Lockdowns, constant change and stress have played a huge role. With many of the activities that helped us to relax being unavailable to us, naturally more people looked to food for enjoyment and to release stress , she added.

Joao Rosa studied Acupuncture, Phytotherapy & Chinese Medicine from the University of Chinese Medicine (UMC) and graduated in 2015, in 2019 he moved from the Algarve to Cork and has been working in The Natural Clinic since 2019:
